Rough seas greeted our first day out. We were running though what is known as the Tongue of the Ocean, the Bahamas passage between Andros Island to the west and New Providence, Exuma and Long Island to the east. Its called the Tongue because a deep sea trench makes a curled formation between the islands. As seas were rough and the ship rolling, I guess the Tongue was giving us a licking! Andros I Read on...

A lot changed in the period between 1870 and 1970. Two World Wars. A beach, no longer flat enough to race motorbikes or attempt land speed records. Cheap holidays to Spain and beyond. In recent years, the not Read on...

Today we woke to a gurgling sound outside the boat. I pulled back the curtain to discover we were looking out at a brick wall just a few inches away. It turns out we were at the bottom of a canal lock and the noise we heard was the water rushing in as the boat was rising in the lock! It was a little unnerving but not unexpected. We were told there would be locks.
We had a briefing this morning wh Read on...
On Sunday, after brunch, Ghislan dropped us off at the train station where we would take the train to London. We had to go thru some security but as we were traveling light, we had no problems. Well, we did have 2 bags with mostly food, over the limit but no one said anything.

Leaving Paros on the way back to Santorini for another 2 days before our flight back to Tel Aviv, I was happy to have one final glimpse of lovely Naxos when we stopped briefly in the port.
The heatwave had also followed us back to Santorini and we were surprised that after barely 2 weeks, there were a lot more people. We decided not to hire a car and to stay around our hotel. We also had to start Read on...
Sorry that we sort of left you hanging in Arizona - obviously we made it home, and helped lead an amazing Lutheran Marriage Encounter over the weekend, and then had one day to get ready for another adventure.
The day started early, awaking at 1:30 am to leave at 2am for Pittsburgh Airport in our rental. Amazing how many trucks are on the roads at that time.
No problems checking in with all our Read on...
