This is the first of two blogs about our trip to California for my son Will and daughter in law Mercys wedding. Our daughter Rosanna suggested that we join her family, Evan and grand children Connor and Logan for a mini vacation in San Diego before going to the wedding venue in Temecula. Of course, we agreed as we wanted to spend quality time with each member of our family, which is so often lost Read on...
Immediately, following our BDR Route, we were on a gravel track through a forest with very dark trails. The weather was seriously gloomy and with overhanging trees it was like night time. Our GPSs didnt adapt so the glare from them really affected our vision. I changed my GPS to 50%!b(MISSING)acklight which solved the problem. After quite a few miles on this dark trail we came to a road closed sig Read on...
The Sun is raising some time between five and six in the morning. I am opening my tired eyes and the first thing what I notice is the city sign of Tikrit - somewhere here we can find the birth village of the notorious dictator Saddam Husain. I am just passing the area which was occupied by the radical organisation Islamic State in the years 2014 to 2017. I am sitting in the shared taxi with two ot Read on...

Our tour of this park started with a boat ride. A large dam creates a lake and to get to the park proper we had a short boat ride to where the tourist buses wait. The idea is to take the buses and get off at various stations and explore parts of the park. At these station you ay simply walk, take photographs or indulge in other activities such as horse riding or off road carting.

Sunday: Decided to check out some St. Louis open houses. Its an interesting city with some super old mansions and some super run down neighborhoods and trash... I went to 5 houses 3 which were reasonable ok condos or houses in the range and then I spent some time in some gorgeous mansions. One which was over 7,000 square feet!!! Had its own humongous arcade room. Even so, it was going for 950k. I Read on...
The 11.30am ferry from Sassari in Sardinia to Bonifacio in Corsica took just on an hour, all of which we gained back by putting our watches back that same amount on arrival. I joined up on the trip with the German couple who had helped me with my currency problem Michael and Heidrun, as well as their friends Norbert and Jutta, for a number of drinks (in both countries) and was fortunate to then g Read on...

Ko Samet wasnt originally on our itinerary but there was too much uncertainty about the area we wanted to visit after Jomtien that we decided on a change of plans. What an excellent idea that turned out to be! Once again we used Bolt to get a driver to take us rather than take the and route by bus. We have indeed gone soft!! In the blink of an eye we were being dropped off at Ban Phe Pier and wer Read on...
Taking Route C14 our drive towards the remotest point of our Namibia journey, actually of our entire journey in Africa. Sossusvlei is a salt and clay pan surrounded by high red dunes, located in the southern part of the Namib Desert, in the National Park. The name Sossusvlei is often used in an extended meaning to refer to the surrounding area, including other neighboring vleis such as Deadvlei a Read on...
