When youve heard it, you must see it; only after youve seen it make a judgement with your heart ~ Lao Proverb We woke late and headed down to the Family Boutique Hotels large dining area for a late breakfast. It was the last few days of our holiday, and we were focused on relaxing in Vientiane. As was customary on this trip, I enjoyed fresh baguettes and omelettes – my favourite way to start e Read on...
Woke up to a cloudy morning and reflected on how the Pink Jeep tour experience yesterday would easily rate in the top 10 experiences of our USA travels to date without doubt. We just had a yoghurt on our balcony with some OJ and then hit the road at 9.20am for the first leg to Flagstaff. But just before we jumped in the car we had a quick game of Cornhole next to the. carpark. We both eventually Read on...
Our next adventure was to head to and climb Gorely Volcano. The Beast came back to pick us up, only this time we had to take ALL our luggage because the hotel would not keep our extra stuff overnight. We were assured that the extra luggage (like, my work laptop) would be kept in the Beast overnight. We stopped again for snacks and set off. This ride would be much longer than our previous one, so w Read on...
Well you probably thought we were lost somewhere, but we are here in Puerto Penasco. After a long drive from St George to Phoenix and then a drive from Phoenix to here we arrived the Friday evening. We had four vans with I think are 38 people. Not sure. If you have ever been on a SunRiver hike you know the counting is the hardest part of the hike. We made it through the border with no problems. We are 12 months on from our last visit to Sheffield. October 2020 and the country was at a turning point. TFB was still experimenting with the Tiers for Fears plan based on geography. South Yorkshire would soon join others in the Tier 3, closing all but essential retail and pubs. Christmas would eventually be literally scrapped. The vibrant area around Eccleshall Road was bizarrely quiet. The opt Read on...

Were sitting in the very front row of our propellor plane, so we get a close up view of the Location of Emergency Equipment plate on the wall right in front of us. And interesting reading it is too. It includes the location of the Bomb Search Checklist. Im n Read on...
Just to fill your holiday during the stay at home, or rather Ground Hog Day existence we are now living. Some totally useless information that may bring a smile or a snicker. So, lets check into Twinkies, fried chicken, catsup, and apple pie and ice cream. From the NYT: Twinkies as we know them now are simple: yellow cake filled with vanilla cream frosting. But when the sweet snacks first appeared Read on...
We got the train from Florence to Napoli; breakfast was a disaster Florence station had dreadful facilities. The train our maximum speed was 297km an hour. In no time we were in Napoli, bought our tickets and struggled down the stairs to get the Circumvesuvia train to Sorrento. Its cheap 3.90€, slow and not very clean. Plus to Sorrento passes some of the less salubrious parts of Naples. There Read on...
Whereever we move to we try to get out and find out about our immediate neighbourhood . That does not always take too long . Then we draw circles around the house . The first to cover around five miles from home . A short trip to see what is local . The circle gets bigger . Half an hour travel from home . When that is exhausted the circle widens to around one hour from home home . Once that has be Read on...
We packed up Sherri and headed just south of west to the Dingle Peninsula. This area is one of Susans ‘must dos and shed done a lot more research than me, so I was looking forward to it. The journey skirted round the bottom of Tralee, a great name place, which always makes me think of singing! We had a brief stop at Inch Beach, a large sandy beach with a surf school and restaurant.
