Its a coastal path that goes from town to town, and quite busy on this glorious sun shiny day. Its a huge lake, but a beautiful ride up the east side. Lazise is our first town with a wonderful old town centre with cobblestone paving, narrow alleys and picturesque squares and a harbour set right in the centre. It seems to be a walled town or castle originally. We parked on the outskirts and wondere Read on...
8 miles out of New Albany we were back on the TAT and immediately in another forest. We were on great gravel roads winding through some flat but interesting terrain. Once again occasional patches of soft sand and a gnarly section with ruts and washouts every now and again. All helped wake us up and concentrate.
A lot of these trails were red dirt – could be outback Australia! These trails were Read on...
The guidebook suggests day one as a 24km (720m elevation) hike from St Bees to Ennerdale Bridge doable (with many, if not most, successfully achieving this), but given its only day one and knowing this distance and elevation is reaching the higher end of what we know we can do & more importantly enjoy, we decided to break this into two days: St Bees to Cleator (15km) and then Cleator to Ennerdale Read on...
The dirt road from Arkaroola to Copley, a distance of 130km, was in very good condition. It took us through some scenic countryside with larger and greener river valleys which had resulted in the road in those areas to have been graded and mended due to the recent flooding.
We were pleasantly surprised to travel on bitumen from Copley to Marree as we thought that from Farina it would be dirt. At Read on...
The Isle of Skye, named ‘cloud island in Old Norse, is the of Scotlands islands but undoubtedly the most beautiful. A jumbled mess of mysterious moors, jagged mountain peaks, deep lochs, and towering sea cliffs that has drawn tourists in for centuries.

In the morning we flew from Luxor to Cairo. Then there was a wait to change planes and we flew home to Israel. provided kosher meals on all the flights. Although the final flight was just over an hour long, the airline had obtained full dinner packs for us kosher to the simple sandwich served to others. Unfortunately that meant 40 minutes to warm the food, and insufficient time to eat it. Many pe Read on...
Before an afternoon of beach and cocktails, we are going to fit in some culture with a visit to Pearl Harbor. First, breakfast at a nearby bakery where I buy the cheesiest cheese stuffed cheese topped cheese croissant. Then we catch the bus to Pearl Harbor. We take a wander round the harbour and museum, which tells the story of the attack, which took place 5 days short of 80 years ago. The America Read on...
Ptin viett viimeisen yn Dsseldorfissa lentokentn lhell. Klnist on toki hyvt yhteydet Dsseldorfin kentlle, mutta varauduin siihen, ett junat eivt kulkisikaan vaikka lakon takia, joten lentokentlle voisi menn vaikka taksilla.
Nukuin huonosti: ehk lht hermostutti. Onneksi talviaikaan siirtyminen antoi ylimrisen tunnin. Hawa tuli paikalle klo 11. Ovihan piti lukita avaimella eik siin ollut postilaati Read on...
This morning we headed off into the Kinchega National Park. Such a drama buying park passes in NSW! We did try to buy one online as we did (easily) for South Australia, but they wanted us to submit a copy of our vehicle registration showing our home address and a copy of Bernies Seniors card. Well, gee whiz, we didnt think to bring the vehicle registration documentation with us!! Today at the park Read on...
After Salerno, we continued on for two nights in Matera. But first we had to make a stop on the way at the amazing medieval village of Castelmezzano in Basilicata. Its about an hour from Matera, the sun came out and the pastel houses against the stark, eroded mountains in the background was an unforgettable sight. In season, there is a zipline called the flight of the angels between this village a Read on...
