Maid of Honor Rosanna, Bride Mercy, Groom Will, Officiant Steve, Ring Bearer Connor, and Best Man Tim
After a two year delay due to Covid, our son Will and daughter in law Mercys wedding day finally arrived. My blog from 2020 (see 2020 California Road Trip) I described our road trip to California where Will and Mercy got their marriage certificate from the Orange County clerk on 5 Aug 2020. And n Read on...
I am standing alone on the top of dArguilhe. I can see 360 degrees all round and it is a long way down . 368 steps I think that wind their way around the Puy. The ancient remains of a volcanic plug. One of a number in the immediate area . In fact, I can see another two of them as I look around . One has a statue of red sandstone the Notre Dame de France . The furthest away is an abbey of some desc Read on...
Kauai is probably just about everyones happy place if you have been here. Many people I know do not venture much beyond the madness of Waki Waki (Waikiki Beach in Honolulu), and the increasingly mad and bustling island of Maui.
But Kauai has always been special for us, since our first visit together, over years ago. Why? We met our dear friends, Rey, and Corinne during a round of golf at Princev Read on...
This morning we are off to see two more waterfalls. We set off around 9.30am - as usual well behind everyone else on the campsite!
On the rough track back to the main road we pick up Christof an Austrian hitch hiker. We can give him a lift as far as the Dettifoss Waterfall turning.
Christof tell us that the falls can be seen from west or east sides but he would the west as its a better road and Read on...
Travelling in the time of Covid was not something I really wanted to do, but needs (and work) must. Leaving my Tier 3 area, with decreasing levels of Covid, to travel to London as it was announced that they would be heading into Tier 3, due to their rapidly rising rates of infection, didnt feel like the safest idea. One the plus side the train down to London was very empty. I love that LNER to soc Read on...
We arrived in Turkey the end of May and have been concentrating on things that needed to be done on the boat. Now we decided we needed to take time to see someplace other than Marmaris. We had originally planned to take a few months to travel extensively through Turkey, but as we have known from past experience, plans can change in a minute.
With Bob trying to turn on the just to check it out, he Read on...
Last night we traveled through numerous mountain tunnels to gt to our hotel in Akureyri. This sophisticated and thriving city is called the Second City and is much warmer and drier than Reykjavik. We have definitely lucked out in the weather department on this trip. The first known settler was Helgi the lean who arrived here around year 890. We dined with others from our group, including Renees ne Read on...
I got to experience this innovative new seat between Helsinki and Singapore. Unlike traditional lie flat Business Class products, this seat does not recline. Rather, it is set up like a sofa. When you want to sleep, you move the legrest - which is the seats only mechanical part - up to form a contiguous flat surface, place your legs into a cubby hole, and slide the rest of your body down into a sl Read on...
We arrived in Vancouver before 11:00, two flights in advance of the departure of the ship, as advised by the travel agent to avoid problems if WestJet cancelled or delayed our flight. No problems. The taxi took us through downtown Vancouver to Canada Place, which is where the cruise ships dock. (I asked about the new Central Library, and caught a glimpse of it. More anon.)
The cruise ship area w Read on...
Today we head back to Broome. Were feeling a bit sad as we leave our little shack in amongst the sand dunes. Well maybe shacks underselling it a bit. The resort calls it a villa, and whilst its certainly very nice, I usually associate villas with mansions high on the cliffs of the French Riviera. The name does at least differentiate it from the tents.
Like just about everyone up in this neck of t Read on...
